Day 1: Tsavo East Game Drive

Day one comprises a tour of Tsavo East, deservingly named the ‘Theater Of The Wild.’ It starts with an 8.30 am departure from your accommodations. You will go on a short 100 km drive on the Mombasa-Nairobi Street. It is a calm relaxing drive that will help you open your mind and ready it for all the magnificence that awaits. You will then approach the national park from the Bachuma gate.

From here, you can enjoy a quiet game drive within the park. Be sure to bring your camera, as mammals of all sizes will be interacting naturally in their habitats. Expect to spot lions, giraffes, and buffaloes. You will drive to the luxurious Ashnil Aruba Lodge for relaxation and lunch. The afternoon brings the promise of red elephants as you make your way around the rest of the park before enjoying dinner with a breathtaking sunset. You will then tuck in peacefully, awaiting the next day.

Day 2: Voyager Ziwani Camp Tour

Day two offers a chance to relax and enjoy nature peacefully. From the Tsavo East Voi Gate, you can drive along the Voi-Taveta Road to the Ziwani Estate. Here, you will check into the Voyager Ziwani Camp and begin your day of exploration. The surrounding areas of Voyager Ziwani have an array of activities, starting with guided nature walks. This is the ideal cool-down activity that promises Instagram-worthy pictures.

You could also take up boating along Ziwani to see crocodiles and turtles in their natural setting. After a Kenyan-style barbecue lunch, sign yourself up for a trip to the twin volcanic lakes of Jipe and Chala. If you have time, you will also be in the perfect setting for a quick tour of the World War 2 battlefields located on Slaughter Hill.

Day 3: Voyager Ziwani Activities

Day three is a chance to see what you missed. You can start your morning with birding expeditions. Because Voyager Ziwani is part of Tsavo East, you will get access to some of the 500 bird species that live here. Expect to see the Golden-breasted starling, as well as the magnificent Ostrich. If luck smiles, you might even see the rare Hartlaub’s Bustard. Bring your good lens and a pair of binoculars to enjoy this activity fully.
